  • Summary of Requirements for <originInfo>
    The DLF/Aquifer Implementation Guidelines for Shareable MODS Records require the use of at least one <originInfo> element with at least one date subelement in every record, one of which must be marked as a key date. <place>, <publisher>, and <edition> are recommended if applicable. These guidelines make no recommendation on the use of the elements <issuance> and <frequency>. This element is repeatable. (page 29)
  • Per the Levels of Adoption Document Level 1: if known, at least one <originInfo> element with at least one <date> subelement from the recommended list
  • Per the Levels of Adoption Document Level 2: One and only one date element must be marked as a key date
  • Per the Levels of Adoption Document Level 3: @encoding attribute on the date with the @keyDate attribute is w3cdtf
  • Per the Levels of Adoption Document Level 4: @encoding attribute on all date elements under <originInfo>
  • Per the Levels of Adoption Document Level 4: @point attribute on all date elements under <originInfo>, when the date is a date range
  • Per the Levels of Adoption Document Level 4: @authority attributes in general
