Summary of Requirements for <name>
The DLF/Aquifer Implementation Guidelines for Shareable MODS Records recommend the use of at least one <name> element to describe the creator of the intellectual content of the resource, if available. The guidelines recommend the use of the type attribute with all <name> elements whenever possible for greater control and interoperability. In addition,
they require the use of <namePart> as a subelement of <name>. This element is repeatable. (page 17)
Per the Levels of Adoption Document Level 1: <name> is required if applicable (and known).
Per the Levels of Adoption Document Level 3: @type on <namePart>, when multiple <namePart> elements appear in a single <name>

If you enter no lastname/corporate name in a name block, no <name> tags will be created for that block.
