Monday, April 10, 1865. This morning Shermans whole army moves for the front. Our Brigade moved ½ a mile and then wer sent back to camp to guard the train. Lay in camp for the nights was up town. Hope I may never forget the 10th of April

Tuesday, April 11, 1865. Rec orders to march at six Oclock but did not leave camp until noon wer waiting for the train. The 1st Brig are train guards moved five miles in the direction of Raleigh and camped for the night. Rec a letter from home all well
