Th. Sep. 18th 1862. Left Fort Mitchel at5:00p.m. marched miles camped in the Florance fair ground

Fr. Sep. 19th 1862. Marched with a force of 5000, did not overtake them but camped in their quarters

S. Sep. 20th 1862. Pursued them; still two hours in advance. Camped at Grittendon

Sn. Sep. 21st 1862. Could not overtake them and retreated back 12 miles.in for the night
