Biographical/Historical Note
Henry Ault was born on November 29, 1813 in Knoxville, Tennessee to Frederick and Mary Ault. He married Sarah Jones in August of 1830 and they had at least five children: Mary Ann, Fred, Martha, Henry I. and Mary. He bought the grocery from James King and was a member of the Knoxville Board of Trade, serving as its treasurer in 1870 and its vice president in 1871. Ault died on May 23, 1878 in Knoxville, Tennessee.
