Biographical/Historical Note

The Luttrell family of Knoxville is related to both the Bucklew and Walling families. James Madison Luttrell married Mary Jane Lockhart McMillan (1845-1908) and the couple had eleven children: Walter Madison (1868-1956), James Beecher (1869-1958), Laura Elizabeth (1872-1973), Lucy A. (1874-1936), Cynthia Albertine (Luttrell) Vance (1876-1966), Mary Iva (1878-1901), Anna E. (Luttrell) McClin (1880-), William Eugene (1882-1968), Ella (1884-1980), Beulah (Luttrell) Bucklew (1887-1958), and Kate (Luttrell) McBath (1890-). William Eugene Luttrell married Mattie Lee Walling and the couple had one son, William Walling (1918-2001). Mattie Walling was the daughter of William L. and Helena Wilkes (Napier) Walling. Beulah Luttrell married Emmet Richelieu Bucklew (1876-) and the couple had at least one son, Emmett Richelieu Bucklew Jr.

William Kyle McClure married Anna Louise Johnston on April 26, 1924 and the couple had one daughter, Nona Louise (McClure) Platillero. Anna Johnston was the daughter of Thomas Hardin (1876-1928) and Nona Grace (McDermott) Johnston and had one sibling, Hugh Samuel (1906-1998). Thomas H. Johnston had five siblings: Hugh McClung (1872-1937), Samuel McGhee (1874-1919), Carl Lay (1879-1913), Annie May (1882-1885), and James Ebenezer (1884-1947). Hugh M. Johnston married Mace Russell (1879-1971) on April 18, 1901 and the couple had two children, Lynn Russell (Johnston) Davidson (1905-1989) and Elizabeth Evans (Johnston) DuPree (1910-1996). It is likely that these families are related to the Dunwoody and Aucker families, as they were all living in the same house when the ration books in this collection were issued.

Elias Asa Goehring married Elizabeth Lovina Kennedy and the couple had three children, Arthur Kennedy, Eleanor Elizabeth, and Winifred Margaret.
