Mary Hoss Headman Genealogical Research
This collection houses a wealth of genealogical research accumulated by Mary Hoss Headman. Most of the material deals with Southern families during the 18th and 19th centuries. Also included is a card index to the baptisms and marriages that Reverend John Casper Stoever (an early leader in the Lutheran Church) performed between 1730 and 1799.

Biographical/Historical Note
Mary Sevier Hoss was born to Elijah Embree (a direct descendant of John Sevier) and Abbie Bell (Clarke) Hoss on September 8, 1874. She was an avid genealogist and conducted extensive research on a number of Southern families, including her own. Mary Hoss married John McCurdy Headman on March 31, 1909 in Nashville, Tennessee, and the couple had two children, Francis William (1910-1992) and Embree Hoss (1915-). Mary Hoss Headman died on January 3, 1956 in Knox County, Tennessee at the age of 81.
