Biographical/Historical Note
Scotia Caledonia Hume was born to David and Eliza (Saunderson) Hume in Tennessee on April 25, 1832. She earned a Mistress of Polite Literature Degree on July 26, 1849 and married Oliver Perry Temple (1820-1907) on September 9, 1851. The couple had one daughter, Mary Boyce (1856-1929). Scotia (Hume) Temple died on October 25, 1889 and is buried in Old Gray Cemetery in Knoxville, Tennessee.
