Abstract

This collection consists of photographs, dated October 7, 1937, of a TVA excavation site near Charleton, Tennessee.

Biographical/Historical Note

The Tennessee Valley Authority was created in 1933 as a part of President Franklin D. Roosevelt's plan to revitalize the economy of the United States after the Great Depression. The TVA brought water and electric services to previous unserved areas and assisted in flood control, navigation, and reforestation.
