Biography / History
The 1104th Engineer Combat Group was activated on March 25, 1943 when it was separated from the 133rd Engineer Combat Regiment at Fort Lewis, Washington. The unit was dispatched to Europe on January 8, 1944. They arrived in England on January 18 and were sent to France on June 11. The unit fought across Europe, entering Belgium on September 9, 1944, Holland on September 17, 1944, and finally Germany on November 29, 1944. The unit was sent back to the United States in 1946, where it was formally deactivated on April 17.
