OFFICE OF THE WARDEN, Tennessee State Prison, STATION A, Nashville
Chief of Police, Dallas, Tex.
Dear Sir:-
Please find enclosed photograph and description of one Wm. Blase, (white) our number 4865, who escaped from this institution. Blase escaped while noting in the capacity as "Trusty" as Barber, on the night of February 26th 1909; This man is an all-around gambler and booze fighter and I feel confident wherever he stops will show up around some whiskey joint, he is a barber by trade (and a good one) and will very likely apply for work at an up-to-date shop, is a neat dresser and will mingle with fast women.
We are very anxious to recapture this escape and will pay a reward of twenty-five ($25.00) dollars for his arrest and detention in any jail and will send an officer for him immediately upon receipt of telegraph information of his arrest at our expense.
Thanking you in advance for your immediate attention to this matter, I am,
Yours Respectfully, W. E. Gillenwaters
Address all communications to W. E. Gillenwaters, Deputy Warden
