Biography / History
Horatio S. Kennedy was born in about 1839 in Kentucky. He was heavily involved in public education in Wilson County, Tennessee, serving as principal of East Main and chairing the building committee for Highland Heights, built in 1902.

Austin, Tenn.
Dr sir, --Your favor of May 2nd was rec'd Saturday, But one public school is in operation in the County, that has been reported--Viz. Mr. Hamilton in the 25th district. I visited it, and found the school doing well. The commissioners, according to the latest report for the various districts in the county are as follows,

I shall be in Lebanon the 1st Monday in June, at which time I should be glad to see you. Can parts of these Districts cornering together by petition of to the County Court, be organized into a separate School District with their own School Directors. I shall be happy to render any assistance in my power. How about our Institute. My school though small is doing well, Very truly yours
