The Civilian Conservation Corps was a New Deal program designed to give employment to young men during the Depression. These employees worked on such conservation projects as planting trees and fighting soil erosion. The program lasted from 1933 to 1942, when the war put an end to it. Company 1463 was located in Wartburg, Tennessee, and did construction work and fought forest fires in Morgan State Forest.
