Biography / History
The Civilian Conservation Corps was a New Deal program designed to give employment to young men during the Depression. These employees worked on such conservation projects as planting trees and fighting soil erosion. The program lasted from 1933 to 1942, when the war put an end to it. Camp Chapman (Co. 1460) in Sevierville was founded on June 2, 1933.

This collection consists of 12 photographs of the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) Camp Chapman 1460, located near Sevierville. Photographs depict the camp buildings and the people who worked there. One of the photographs is dated February 27, 1934 and the others appear to come from the same time period.
