Warren Keith Sinclair was born on March 9, 1924, in New Zealand. He married in 1948 and has two children. Sinclair earned his Ph.D in Physics (with special interest in biophysics) from the University of London in 1950 and the family moved to the United States in 1954. He served as President of the National Council on Radiation Protection and Measurements from 1977 to 1991, taught as Professor of the Radiology Department at the University of Chicago from 1964 to 1985, and continues to consult for numerous organizations and laboratories in the United States. Dr. Sinclair also belongs to a multitude of scientific societies, including the American Association of Physicists in Medicine, the Health Physics Society, and the Radiation Research Society.

Taken from his resume in Folder 1 of the collection: "Dr. Sinclair's research experience has included published studies on a wide variety of aspects of radiological physics and on the development of many radioisotope techniques in medicine. In addition, he spent about 20 years in research on radiation biology in studies of relative biological effectiveness of a variety of different radiations and in widely exploiting the technique of synchronizing cells for understanding radiation mechanisms in the cell cycle. His most recent work has concerned the biological basis of radiation protection recommendations and the evaluation of studies dealing with the risk of radiation induced cancer."
