Biography / History
Edward Richard Herman was born in New York and joined the United States Navy at the start of World War II in the city of San Francisco, California as a Private Second Class. In the course of his letters he was promoted to Private First Class.

This collection houses letters and cards sent to Private First Class "Eddie" Herman while he was serving in the Pacific Theater during World War II. The letters are from various friends and family, as well as from girlfriends in both New York and California.
