Biography / History

The Technical Trade School opened September 1, 1911. It eventually became the largest trade school of its kind in the world. While pressmen were also trained on letterpress at the school, its main function was to retrain letterpressmen and educate young printers in the offset craft.


Collection Scope and Content Note

This collection consists of an informational guide to the Technical Trade School in Pressmen's Home, Tennessee, an "institution operated by the International Printing Pressmen and Assistants' Union in an endeavor to assist in making the printing industry more efficient and prosperous." The guide offers information on the various departments in the school and also contains color and black and white pictures and photographs of the grounds, the buildings, and the school's different types of printing presses.
