Biography / History
Bishop enlisted in the 178th Ohio on September 13, 1864. The 178th is known for the Movement of the Carolinas where the Union Army triumphed over the Army of the South's General Johnston; leading to the occupation of the key cities Kingston, Tennessee and Raleigh, North Carolina. John Bishop was mustered out soon after on June 29, 1865.
