Arrangement

Collection consists of four series:

  1. Series I: Monthly Summary of the League of Nations, 1921-1925
  2. Series II: Foreign Policy Reports, 1929-1935
  3. Series III: The Economist, 1933
  4. Series IV: Additional Papers, 1930-1935

Biography / History

The League of Nations was established by the Covenant, part of the Treaty of Versailles, following WWI, in 1920. It's goals were to promote international cooperation, peace and security. The Covenant was a group of International States who had agreed to settle their disputes among the group before going to war. The headquarters for the League was in Geneva, Switzerland. The organization was made up of three bodies: the Council, the Assembly, and the Secretariat. The League disbanded in 1946.


Collection Scope and Content Note

This is a collection of periodicals produced by the League of Nations and the Department of Commerce which include major issues between 1921 and 1935. Different issues arise over the years, including disarmament of countries, drug traffic, women and children, application to the League, politics of the Third Reich and more.
