Biography / History

Jeff McCarn was the Attorney General for the State of Tennessee and the Chief Prosecutor during the Cooper-Sharp Trial in 1909. Robin Cooper was accused of murdering Edward Ward Carmack in Nashville, during a confrontation where guns were pulled by both men and Edward Carmack was killed. Both Robin and Duncan Brown Cooper were convicted. Governor Ham Patterson supported the Coopers throughout the trial, and pardoned them. Controversy surrounded the governor and trial.
