This collection consists of three stereographs portraying Montvale Springs, East Tennessee. All three are part of a series entitled "The Beauties Around Montvale Springs, East Tennessee" and were taken by T.M. Schleier of the American and Foreign Stereoscopic Emporium in Knoxville, Tennssee. Two of the images portray waterfalls, and the third shows several people sitting by a stream.

Relatively little is known about T.M. Schleier. He apparently began his carrer in Nashville in about 1859 working for Giers' Southern Photographic Temple of Fine Arts and later moved to Knoxville. He operated his own studio in Knoxville between about 1870 and 1890.
