Abstract:
The Tennessee League for Nursing (TLN) Records, 1947-1991 (bulk 1970-1985), consists primarily of the records of the organization's president. These records include correspondence, annual reports, Board of Directors meeting minutes, and information of TLN chapters and committees. Also included are some papers related to associated organizations, such as the National League of Nursing and the Southern Regional Assembly of Constituent Leagues for Nursing.

Arrangement

Collection consists of six boxes divided into two series: Tennessee League of Nursing Materials and Materials from Associated Organizations.


Biography / History

The Tennessee League for Nursing (TLN), a constituent league of the National League for Nursing, was incorporated in January 1953. Membership consists of registered nurses and lay members interested in improving nursing services and nursing education.


Collection Scope and Content Note

Materials in this collection date from 1947-1991, with the bulk of the collection from the 1970s and early 1980s. Most of these papers pertain to the office of the president. Up until the late 1960s, materials deemed of historical value were donated to the Tennessee State Archives in Nashville. A copy of the guide to those papers is in located in Box 4, Folder 7 (TLN Historical Source Committee).

Series I: Tennessee League of Nursing Materials (Boxes 1-4) contains information on annual reports and conventions, Board of Directors meeting minutes, correspondence, bylaws, individual TLN chapters, and papers related to various TLN committees. Series II: Materials from Associated Organizations (Boxes 5-6) contains papers and records of associated organizations, particularly the National League of Nursing and the Southern Regional Assembly of Constituent Leagues for Nursing.
