Biography / History
Peter De Vries (1910--1993) was a former editor of Poetry , a staff member of The New Yorker , and a novelist about life in Connecticut. His works, including Mackerel Plaza, were influenced by sorrow as well as by wit.
Eric Stockton (1919-1983) was an English professor at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. He was so devoted that in the last years of his life while invalid, he continued to teach with an arrangement with UT for Stockton to teach classes from his home.
