Abstract: Frances A. Ramsey, born in 1764, was the father of J.G.M. Ramsey. He served as the Clerk of Washington County and as one of the first trustees of Blount College (later the University of Tennessee). He was among the signers of the Tennessee Constitution in 1796. He died in 1820.

Warrant for the summons of David Forrester as a witness in the matter of David Allison vs. George Mitchel, 1789 August 15 Scope Note: Transcription of Letter:
State of North Carolina
To the Sheriff of Washington County Greeting
We command you to summon David Forrester personally to be and appear before the Honble Superior Court at Law to be held for the district of Washington at the Court house in Jonesboro there to testify and the truth to say on behalf of George Mitchel in a matter of court honesty in said court defend wherein David Allison is the plaintiff and George Mitchel, Defendant and this they have in us under penalty of one hundred pounds each. Herein fail not. Given at Office the fifteenth day of August Anno Domini 1789 and of American Independence.
