Biography / History

George Herbert Clarke (1873-1953) was a Canadian-born writer and professor of English. From 1904 through 1911, he taught at Vanderbilt. Then he transferred to the University of Tennessee until about 1919. He is the editor and writer of several poetic anthologies.


Collection Scope and Content Note

The George Herbert Clarke Papers, 1916, contain two poems by Clarke. The first "Rose in my Water-Jar" is signed and dated. The second "The Wanderer's England" is not.
