Biography / History
Luther Green (1851-1918) was sheriff of James County and a resident of Ooltewah, TN. His father Jesse A. Green (1824-1895) was also sheriff of James County from 1871 to 1876 and in 1886. His mother was Rebecca Ferguson Green (1824-1882).
James County was formed in 1871. It was named in honor of Representative Elbert Abdiel James' father Rev. Jesse J. James. The county seat became Ooltewah, TN. It was 285-square-miles and housed 13 towns and communities. Because of bankruptcy, the county was dissolved on April 15, 1919. In December, the citizens decided to join Hamilton County.

Dear Sirs
I find by investigating that Aly Brock had when he died Forty acres of Ridge land one very good Horse and Buggy and I also learn that his widow who is now dead gave the horse and Buggy to colord man Henry Donaldson who married her daughter.
