Biography / History

George Core is the long-time editor of The Sewanee Review. Lee Smith has published a number of novels and short stories. She currently lives in North Carolina. Elizabeth Spencer is the author of more than dozen collections of stories. She currently lives in North Carolina. Fred Chappell has produced not only novels, but books of verse and short story collections, too. He currently resides in North Carolina. Walter Sullivan has written, in addition to novels and short stories, several works of literary criticism. He currently lives in Tennessee. Madison Jones is the author of, at present, ten novels, and he currently resides in Alabama. George Garrett has written over thirty books-poetry, essays, short stories and novels-as well as edited others. He currently lives in Virginia. Mary Lee Settle is the author of not only novels and short stories, but plays, too. She currently resides in Virginia.


Collection Scope and Content Note

This collection contains a series of proofs, as well as correspondence regarding the publishing/printing process, of Southern Excursions. Edited by George Core and published in 1997 by The Fellowship of Southern Writers, Southern Excursions is a collection of short stories by seven different authors. The collection houses setting copies of the works and multiple galleys/printer's proofs of each story.
