James Beriah Frazier, Jr. (1890-1978) was born in Chattanooga, TN, to future governor of Tennessee and U.S. Senator James B. Frazier. During World War I he served as major in the U.S. Army. From 1933 to 1948, he was a U.S. District Attorney for the Eastern District of Tennessee. He was a House Representative from Tennessee's Third Congressional District between 1948 and 1962. Frazier was a descendant of Nicholas Gibbs, a Knox County pioneer.

William Gibbs McAdoo, Jr. (1863-1941) was secretary of the Treasury in the cabinet of his father-in-law President Woodrow Wilson (1913-1918), unsuccessful candidate for the Democratic nomination for President in 1920 and 1924, and a U.S. Senator from California from 1933 to 1939. He headed the company which planned, designed and constructed the Hudson River tunnels which connect New Jersey with New York City. He too was a descendant of Nicholas Gibbs.

William Gibbs Allen (1836-1924) of Dayton, TN, fought with the Fifth Tennessee Cavalry Regiment of the Confederate States of America during the Civil War. He wrote articles for the Dayton Herald about his experiences and wrote on the history of Rhea County, TN. He was also a descendant of Nicholas Gibbs.

This collection contains two photographs of Senator William G. McAdoo, Jr., and of Representative James B. Frazier, Jr. The McAdoo picture is signed to a relative named William Gibbs Allen and dated "Los Angelos, Cal, / December 1923." The Frazier photograph is a picture from the 1960's with a brief sketch typed on the side including his congressional information and years of birth and death (1890 and 1978).
