Biography / History
Adam Clapp was born on March 16, 1800 to David and Elizabeth Graves Clapp. He married Rebecca Roberts on September 17, 1822 in Knox County, Tennessee. The couple had seven children: Amanda (born December 15, 1824), Nancy (born February 4, 1827), Henry Roberts (born September 8, 1829), Julia Ann (born May 1, 1834), Adeline (born November 22, 1836), William (born June 2, 1839), and James Byron (born December 14, 1841). One of Clapp's brothers, Henry A. Clapp (born about 1806) and his family also lived in Knoxville. Adam Clapp died on March 18, 1843.
