Biography / History
Paul Wilson Todd was born in Bangor, Maine on June 15, 1936. He earned both his B.A. (from Bowdoin College) and his B.S. (from MIT) in 1959, his M.S. from the University of Rochester in 1960, and his Ph.D from the University of California at Berkeley in 1964. During his professional career, he taught at Berkeley (1964-1966), Pennsylvania State University (1966-1986), and the University of Colorado (1990-), directed the Bioprocessing & Pharmaceutical Research Center in Philadelphia (1984-1987), performed research at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (1988-1991), and directed the BioServe Space Technology Research Center (1994-).
Todd published a number of works during his career, including Space Radiation Biology (1973), Frontiers in Bioprocessing (1989), Gravity and the Cell (1991), and Cell Separation Science and Technology (1991). He has also received a number of awards, including the Radiological Physics Fellowship from the Atomic Energy Commission (1959), the Eleanor Roosevelt Fellowship from the American Cancer Society (1967), the Fogarty International Fellowship from the National Institutes of Heath in Moscow (1979), the Yamagiwa-Yoshida Fellowship from the International Union Against Cancer in Sweden (1979) and the Technical Briefs Recognition Award from NASA (1996).
