The Welding and Testing Technology Exhibition and Conference (WAATec) is a conference and exhibition held annually during National Engineers' Week under the joint sponsorship of 30 technical and professional society chapters in the Knoxville-Oak Ridge area. The purpose of the conference is to provide a forum in interdisciplinary environmental guidelines for the dissemination and exchange of information on an important national issue involving science and technology. The national issue selected by WAATec since it was originated in 1973 by local chapters of the American Welding Society and the American Society for Nondestructive Testing has been the energy crisis. The program has features invited speakers on all aspects of the production, use, and conservation of energy.
