Collection Scope and Content Note
This diverse collection represents the response to an appeal made by Charles W. Johnson, Department of History, for World War II diaries, letters, photographs, memorabilia, etc. The drive for this material focused on three groups of World War II veterans: persons living in Tennessee 1939-1945 and who joined the military; persons from elsewhere who served in Tennessee during the war; and current residents of Tennessee who served in the military during the war.
In addition to the types of material listed above, the collection includes maps, newspapers, scrapbooks, and various awards. Regardless of format, this material is organized alphabetically, according to the name of the collector.
