Biography / History
The Tennessee Ornithological Society was founded on October 7, 1915 by Dr. George Curtis, Albert F. Ganier, Judge H.Y. Hughes, Dr. George R. Mayfield, Dixon Merritt, and A.C. Webb to promote the enjoyment, scientific study, and conservation of birds. The organization's Knoxville chapter was formed in 1923.
