Biography / History

Miss Will Allen Dromgoole was a poet, author, and playwright from Rutherford County, Tennessee. "Miss Will," as she was widely known, was literary editor and author of "Song and Story" for The Nashville Banner for nearly 30 years. Her works were widely read in Tennessee as well as the entire South. In 1930, Miss Dromgoole was named poet laureate by the Poetry Society of the South. Dromgoole's published books included The Heart of Old Hickory, Hero-Chums, and A Moonshiner's Son. She died 1 September 1934, briefly before what would have been her 30th anniversary with the Banner.
