Biography / History
David Crockett was born in 1786 in Tennessee and gained a reputation for fighting the native Indians.. Between 1811 and 1813 Crockett fought under General Andrew Jackson in the Creek War. He served two terms in the Tennessee legislature and was elected to Congress three times. Crockett broke ties with Andrew Jackson in 1828 and became a Whig for the remainder of his political career when he headed for Texas. He died in 1836.
