Kingsley's travels along the Mississippi River are discussed in a number of letters from 1857 and 1858. A number of Civil War-era letters can also be found in the collection. Also included are some letters from the Worley family.

Roswell Kingsley was born in 1837. He married the former Nannie Worley (1842-1912). The couple resided in Greeneville, TN. Kingsley died in 1876.
