Title: Howard Vogel Reprint Collection
Abstract: Although the inclusive dates for Dr. Vogel's reprints are 1899-1976, the vast majority were printed after 1950. The reprints are filed numerically (1-3210) with approximate chronological order. Included among Dr. Vogel's materials are author and subject indexes which refer to the topic, date, and guide number of each Radiation Biology reprint in the collection.

Title: Gottfried Galston Music Collection and The Galston-Busoni Archive
Abstract: The Library of the University of Tennessee is most fortunate to have received the Galston-Busoni Archive and the Galston Music Collection, a unique and valuable collection of music materials. The gift from Mrs. Helen Galston Tibbe of Menlo Park, California was originally a private collection amassed by her late husband, the Austrian pianist Gottfried Galston. The collection consists of 27 boxes of manuscripts (musical and literary), letters, programs, newspaper clippings, and rare musical scores by Bach, Beethoven, Chopin, Liszt, Mozart, Brahms, to list a few.

Abstract: This collection deals with cinematic material belonging to Walter Morris, native Knoxvillian who spent over 50 years in the management and ownership of motion picture theaters in Knoxville and throughout the United States. This material consists primarily of promotional items known as ticklers in the trade, plus various trade publications and journals.

Abstract: This collection houses 19 scrapbooks assembled by Eleanor Harrison documenting Franklin Delano Roosevelt and his administration, Knoxville and Knox County history, the Blount Mansion, the Daughters of the American Revolution, the United Daughters of the Confederacy, St. John's Episcopal Church, and England's Royal visitors to the United States.

Abstract: This collection is made up of the research materials and manuscripts that Dr. Lee S. Greene developed in preparation for his Frank Clement biography, Lead Me On. Although much of the research material dates from the 1950's, Dr. Greene gathered and prepared the manuscript between 1973 and 1982.

Title: Railroad Records Collection and Addendum
Abstract: This collection houses a wide array of items documenting railroads in the Southeast, including published rules and regulations, commodity tariff schedules and classification lists, passenger timetables and rate schedules, and miscellaneous items and memorabilia. Most of the material relates to the Southern Railway System and the Louisville and Nashville Railroad.

Abstract: This collection houses materials documenting the planned one-hundredth anniversary observance of the late U. S. Secretary of State Cordell Hull in 1971. This anniversary coincided with the twenty-fifth anniversary of his receipt of the Nobel Peace Prize in 1946 and the fortieth anniversary of his election to the U. S. Senate in 1931.

Title: John R. Neal Papers
Abstract: The papers consist of more than 10,000 separate items including family correspondence, books, memorabilia from Neal's political campaigns, and other related materials. The papers cover approximately 100 years, from around the 1850's to 1959. Taken as a whole, they are a remarkable historical collection that should illuminate the shadowy personal life of this important figure in Tennessee history.

Title: Knoxville Technical Society Papers
Abstract: The collection covers the Society's business from 1931 to 1988, with the majority of material covering 1950-1982. Boxes 1-4 deal with different committees, membership events, president's file, and other business relating to scientific problems. Boxes 5-8 contain administrative material (board minutes, presidential correspondence, etc.). Boxes 9-11 house various technical pamphlets and publications which include Soupcon, the Knoxville Technical Society Weekly Newsletter.

Abstract: In this document, Waightstile (usually spelled Waightstill) Avery, John Blair McMahon, and John Thomas of North Carolina indebt themselves jointly to George Barkley for the sum of 44 pounds. Additionally, Avery alone indebts himself to Barkley for 22 pounds.

Abstract: This collection consists of three letters, two of which are from Andrew Jackson Donelson. The other is addressed to Donelson. Two of the letters are written during his tenure as Andrew Jackson's private secretary. The other is written from Berlin during his service with President Tyler.

Abstract: The majority of this collection documents Wilson's service in the Jimmy Hoffa trial and Estes Kefauver's 1948 presidential bid (Wilson served as campaign manager). Other material includes opinions, speeches, minutes, and correspondence dating between 1940 and 1982.

Title: John Watkins Papers
Abstract: This collection consists primarily of letters written by John Watkins, a Union soldier with the Ohio 19th, to his fiance, Sarah Probert, and other friends and family members. Watkins' letters contain highly detailed descriptions of a soldier's experience during the Civil War, including information on Knoxville and the Battle of Fort Sanders. Also included in the collection are family diaries and account books.

Title: Richard Beale Davis Papers
Abstract: This collection consists of: correspondence between Dr. Davis and international colleagues, family, etc.; papers relating to the publication of his books and articles; reprints and reviews of his works and the works of other writers; as well as notebooks and journals, some describing his experiences in Norway and India. The papers date as early as 1906, a year before Dr. Davis's birth (with his parents' correspondence), and end in late 1980, a few months before his death.

Abstract: This collection of scientific reprints accumulated by biophysicist A. Douglas McLaren deals with the effects of photochemistry on nucleic acids, nucleotides, various viruses, and phages. There is also one reprint concerning photorecovery. Sparsely intermixed with Dr. McLaren's reprint collection are related notes and correspondence.
